1) Qamaa-qa-kamamaaoxaaNaamaaraogyaM Ä Qamaa-qa-kamamaaoxaaNaama\ + Aaraogyama\ È
2) maUlamau<amama\ Ä maUlama\ + ]<amama\ È
3) raogaastsyaaphta-r: Ä raogaa: + tsya + Aphta-r: È
4) Eaoyasaao jaIivatsya Ä Eaoyasa: + jaIivatsya È
Meanings: 
maUlama\ Ä base, root, Aphta-r: Ä destroyer,Eaoyasa: Ä welfare.
Translation:
(Good) health is the excellent base of duty ( Qama- ), prosperity ( Aqa- ),
(fulfillment of ) desire ( kama ) and emancipation ( maaoxa ). Diseases are
the destroyers of that (health), welfare and life.

Meanings:  
ekOkM Ä each, GaYa-yaot\ Ä brush, kUca-kona Ä toothbrush, caUNa-ona Ä powder,
dntmaaMsaaina Ä gums, AbaaQayana\ Ä without harming.
Translation:
One should brush each tooth with a soft brush and tooth-powder without harming the gums.

tsmaannarao vai*naivavaQa-naaya mauhumau-huvaa-ir ipbaodBaUir ÈÈ 3 ÈÈ

Meanings:A%yambaupanaat\ Ä Due to drinking of excess of water,
na ivapcyato Ä is not digested,
inarambaupanaat\ Ä because of not drinking water,
vai*naivavaQa-naaya Ä to increase appetite,
ABaUir Ä little,
Translation:
Due to drinking of excess of water, food is not digested and the same
fault (occurs) because of not drinking water (at all). So, man should
drink a little water again and again to increase the appetite.

Baaojanaanto ipbao<aËM vaasaranto ipbaot\ pya: È
inaSaanto ca ipbaoWair i~BaI raogaao na jaayato ÈÈ 4 ÈÈ

Sandhi Dissolution:
1) ipbao<aËM Ä ipbaot\ + tËma\ È
2) ipbaoWair Ä ipbaot\ + vaair È
3) i~BaI raogaao na Ä i~iBa: + raoga: + na È
Meanings: tËma\ Ä buttermilk,
vaasaranto Ä at the end of the day, at night
inaSaanto Ä at the end of night, at dawn
i~iBa: Ä by (these) three (things),
na jaayato Ä does not occur.
Translation:One should drink buttermilk at the end of the meal. One
should drink milk at the end of the day. At the end of night, one should drink water. By doing (these) three (things), the disease does not occur.

yaamamaQyao na Baao@tvyaM yaamayaugmaM na la=\Gayaot\ È
yaamamaQyao rsaao%pi<ayaa-mayaugmaad\balaxaya: ÈÈ 5 ÈÈ
Sandhi Dissolution:
1) rsaao%pi<ayaa-mayaugmaad\balaxaya: Ä rsaao%pi<a: + yaamayaugmaat\ + balaxaya: È
Meanings:
yaamamaQyao Ä in an interval (of three hours), 
na Baao@tvyama\ Ä should not eat,
yaamayaugmama\ Ä a pair of intervals (i.e. six hours),
rsaao%pi<a: Ä digestive juices are created, balaxaya: Ä loss of strength.
Translation:One should not eat (anything) in an interval. One should
not cross a pair of interval (without food). During the interval,
digestive juices are created. (By crossing) a pair of intervals (without
food, there occurs) loss of strength.

]panahaO ca vaasaSca QaRtmanyaOna- Qaaryaot\ È
]pvaItmala=\karM sa`jaM krkmaova ca ÈÈ 6 ÈÈ
Sandhi Dissolution:
1) vaasaSca Ä vaasa: + ca È  
2) QaRtmanyaOna- Ä QaRtma\ + AnyaO: + na È
3) ]pvaItmala=\karM Ä ]pvaItma\ + Ala=\karma\ È 
4) krkmaova Ä krkma\ + eva È
Meanings:
]panahaOÄ footwear, vaasa: Ä garment, QaRtma\ Ä used
AnyaO: Ä by others, ]pvaItma\Ä sacred thread, Ala=\karma\ Ä ornament,
sa`jama\ Ä garland, krkma\ Ä water-pot.
Translation:
One should not use the footwear, garment, sacred thread, ornament,
garland and water-pot used by others.
